Hoppy new year
Happy January!
I am excited for what the new year brings! I am hoping lotsa FABRIC and lotsa QUILTS!
My personal new years resolution is to lose 50lbs. Eat less and move more!
you know it's scary when i already kinda look like this lady- so now is the time to really make some changes!
My Quilting resolution is to enter some decent quilting competitions. I always want to enter them, but by the time i find out about them, it's too late to enter. So this year I am going to try and get on the ball and find out early. But I need to make some quilts first!
There is a tristate show i just read about and the dead line is in 20 days... I'm not sure if I can make that one.... I have a top that is kinda started... so if it makes it great! if not- i can save it for the next one.

| yeah i know, i left my blade open... what.
I've been kinda sick more than not for the past 3 months, so I've been in bed a lot. So what better a project to start than Hexies! I sew them in bed, on the couch and bring them with me to my doctor appointments.
I started them before, but I did them the cheap ass way- I tried to cut out my own papers. When I went to sew them all together nothing matched up. if one or two are just a LITTE bit off... they don't really fit. So i learned the hard way and now I buy my papers here. Yeah, I need like 2,000 more to make a quilt... but it's a start. :-D

pink coffee cone filter icon
I can't believe it's almost December... I love my new job so far. I am woking on a huge software manual for a CT scanner, and the instructions direct the user to "the pink coffee cone filter icon".
November brought me so many crazy things!
1. Tonsillitis
2. 600 kidney stones (and counting...)
3. quit my new job
4. started a new new job
5. Olive was in the hospital for 3 days
6. lost my grand dad - RIP Dziadzi
7. FALL FABRIC FRENZY 2001 Shop Hop ADVENTURE
You can see the top 6 are SUPER Stressy - So #7 was sooooo awesome- and so badly needed.

I was sick as hell- but on some super antibiotics, so Dr. said I was not contagious, so i hoped in the car and off I went with my super quilting pals from Philly!!!!
We went to SEVEN glorious quilt shops.
The trip was superbly planned by Andrew- and he really made it all possible by driving us all around. I have been waaaaaanting to go on a Shop Hop - but have never really had the cash. :-(
It would be a waste of time and gas for me if I could not shop and buy fabric. The sad thing was - that it was only from like 10am-5pm. We wanted to hit all the stores, but we had to keep it to about 20-30 min for each store. You need to hit each store if you want to win the new sewing machine!
So i am saving up my pennies for the next one! and I heard there is a NJ Hop soon- So hope I can have another amazing trip!
Here are some photos of all my loot!
.....And this is the HUGE STONE I passed
I am still kinda sick. Now my hubby is sick. :-( Everyone- please get better!

My new iron is so hot....
It's so big. and so beautiful. I don' name most of my appliances, but this one gives me reason to.... 1800 watts... i just love it.
----------------------------------------------------------
Here is a little barkcloth pincushion I made for our PMQG swap.
The little "strawberry" is filled with crushed walnut shells to help sharpen your needles.
Traditionally I think you should use emery dust, but I keep forgetting to buy the damn emery...
Emery is your friend!
Emery is your friend!
And this is the pincushion I received in the swap. it's simply AMAZING. I just love it. and if anyone remembers who made this- please tell me!!!

| This measures 2.75" square! Shot cotton, simply elegant. |
And at quilt guild Jessica brought in a bunch of gorgeous quilts... all of which you can see in her new book, "Modern Mix"
Quilting is so much like painting..... You can stare at quilt books and magazines (and quilt blogs!) all you like, but is nothing compared to seeing them in real life. I am so happy to get these special opportunities.
